Bangalore: Chief Minister DK Shivakumar urged people from the coastal and Malnad regions to start businesses in their own villages using their natural wealth instead of migrating to other regions for jobs.

Speaking at the 'Kail Muhurt Jambal-2026' event held in Bangalore, he said the state government has formulated the Coastal and Malnad Tourism Policy to infuse strength into the region's entrepreneurship. Under this policy, the loan period for starting a business in the tourism sector has been extended up to 20 years. He also promised to hold a special meeting with entrepreneurs soon in Mangalore. He added that this year's Mysore Dasara festival will provide special opportunities for the culture of the coastal and Kodagu regions, and three armies will participate differently in the celebrations.
