Maharana Pratap College, Jungl Dhushar, Gorakhpur organized a memorial program on the death anniversary of Yogi Raj Baba Gambhirnath Ji Maharaj. The main speaker, Prof. Ishwar Sharan Vishwakarma, national president of All India History Survey Project, New Delhi, highlighted the personality and contributions of Baba Gambhirnath, stating that he was not only a saint and a realized yogi but also a symbol of the great tradition of Indian yoga, austerities, renunciation, and spiritual practice. Addressing the students, Prof. Vishwakarma said that Baba Gambhirnath's life conveys the message that yoga is not merely a process of training the body but a path to self-discipline, recognizing one's inner powers, and dedicating them for the welfare of society. His life inspires the harmony of self-knowledge, self-discipline, control, and service. He said that Baba Gambhirnath made the search for spiritual truth his life's goal, rather than worldly comforts and facilities. He performed severe austerities during his travels to various spiritual sites in India, including cave meditation in Jhunsia, Prayagraj, austerities in Amarkantak, meditation in Kapil Dhara area, Gaya, and the spiritual pilgrimage to Kailash-Mansarovar. Prof. Vishwakarma said that Baba Gambhirnath is remembered as a great practitioner of Hatha Yoga, Raj Yoga, and Laya Yoga in the Nath Yoga tradition. For him, yoga was not limited to postures and breathing exercises, but achieving victory over the mind, senses, thoughts, and ego was the real yoga. His life inspires the balance between knowledge and action, practice and service, self-development and social welfare. Addressing the youth, he said that students today face many challenges such as competition, stress, pressure from social media, and the desire for quick success. In such times, Baba Gambhirnath's life teaches the youth that real success lies in conquering one's mind, character building, and linking life with a greater purpose. He urged the students to make self-discipline, patience, control, and positive thinking the foundation of their lives. He said that Baba Gambhirnath attained samadhi on 21 March 1917, but the personality of great saints does not end with their bodies. His samadhi located in the Gorakhnath Temple complex still keeps alive the memory of his austerities and spiritual heritage. Baba Gambhirnath's life gives the belief that a person can bring positive change within himself and in society by recognizing his inner powers, purifying his thoughts, and linking life with discipline and service. The program was chaired by the principal of the college, Dr. Manish Kumar Tripathi. The program was hosted by Assistant Professor Vivek Vishwakarma of the Department of Defence and Strategic Studies. The event was attended by the college teachers, staff, and students.
