Under the Jal Seva Campaign, a cleanliness drive was organized through voluntary labor to remove trees and bushes from various canals, reservoirs, and irrigation projects in the district. Officials and staff of the Water Resources Department from sub-divisional and branch offices participated in the campaign for cleanliness.
Cleanliness was carried out under the medium projects, including the Yerla Right Canal, Tal. Khatav, and the Hivre Small Weir Project, Tal. Koregaon. Also, trees and bushes were removed from the Urmodi Upper Irrigation Scheme's bund (Kiroli), Tal. Koregaon, and the Pump House Stage No. 1 area.
A cleanliness campaign was also conducted in the resettled village area of Bhambhe (Wadgaon-Umbraj). Cleanliness was carried out in the Dhom Dam area, Dhom Right Canal, and the Saratale, Mahamulkarwadi, Mhasve, and Ekbhe areas. In addition, trees and bushes were removed from the Khaneer Dam area through voluntary labor.
Cleanliness campaigns were also conducted at the Dhom-Balkwadi Right Canal, Mauje Girwai, Vinchurni-Girwai Distributary, and Titghar, Tal. Wai.
Removing the overgrown trees and bushes in the canals and reservoirs will help remove obstacles in the water flow. As a result, the water conveyance capacity of the canals will increase, and the water flow will remain smooth. Additionally, this campaign will help prevent the uncontrolled growth of trees and bushes.
The main objective of this campaign is to ensure that farmers get water smoothly during the Rabi season, avoiding water wastage. If proper water management and efficient flow are achieved through the canals, water conservation will take place, and more farmers will benefit from the available water.
