My City
Bengaluru commuter uses AI to create song demanding better roads
A Bengaluru commuter used AI to generate a song criticizing the city's poor road infrastructure. The song highlights issues like potholes, traffic, and flooding. No official response is provided in the evidence. The song's impact remains unclear.

A Bengaluru commuter has used artificial intelligence to create a song titled 'Tax Me,' which criticizes the city's deteriorating road infrastructure. The song, uploaded to YouTube, highlights common frustrations such as potholes, traffic congestion, and flooding, while calling for basic infrastructure improvements. The song's lyrics include lines like 'Pothole number 27' and 'Metro above me. Digging below, flyover beside me. Nobody knows where to go,' capturing the chaotic state of the city's roads.
Punit Vara, a 34-year-old techie living near Choodasandra, said the song was entirely AI-generated. He used his daily experiences of commuting on Doddamara Road, which is in the Anekal Assembly constituency represented by A. Shivanna, as prompts for the AI. 'For the past nine months, I drove my pregnant wife on Doddamara Road, which is in a pathetic condition, for regular doctor visits. I had to be extra careful, and it was highly dangerous, which prompted me to come up with this song,' he said. Vara emphasized that the song is a satire anthem for commuters, parents, and auto drivers navigating Bengaluru's 'moonscape streets.'
The song's lyrics also address the broader issue of taxation, with lines like 'I pay my income tax. I pay my GST,' before listing the many other charges that accompany everyday life. The song argues that the complaint is not about 'gold-plated roads' or a perfect city, but about basic infrastructure, including roads without potholes, sidewalks that can be walked on, buses that actually arrive, and streets that do not disappear under water during the monsoon.
The song has resonated with many Bengalureans, who often start their morning commute by checking maps and adding a generous margin for traffic that the maps could not possibly have accounted for. The AI-generated song has provided a soundtrack to this daily frustration, offering a creative and satirical take on the city's infrastructure challenges.
The impact of the song on policy discussions or public sentiment remains unclear. Further information on whether the song has influenced any infrastructure planning or public discourse would be necessary to fully assess its significance.
