New Delhi: The 57th GST Council meeting was held in New Delhi under the chairmanship of Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and Minister Krishna Bairagouda participated in the meeting.

After the meeting, speaking to the media, Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the GST Council has cancelled the power of tax officers to detain. She also provided information that the economic limit for imposing fines has been increased from 1 crore rupees to 5 crore rupees.

Meanwhile, after the GST meeting, speaking to the media, Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar said that the Central Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has assured to release the remaining GST funds of the state. He also provided information that the state's proposal was accepted by all states at the meeting.
